Company-Introduction

"When my first daughter was born I knew I wanted to dedicate my time to the creation of a place just for her; where she could discover and develop without the direct intervention of her parents.

Children`s playhouses are not a new product, especially in Northern Europe where this type of construction in the garden is very common. I myself had a traditional style cabin in the garden of my family`s home in Denmark.

I decided to bring this concept here, but I was sure I wanted to create something very unique. From that moment I started designing various models and part of the result can be seen on this website. In fact, I designed various prototypes in different styles, and together with my team we decided to start offering a small selection from those ideas."

David Lamolla Kristiansen studied Architecture at the Politechnical University of Catalunya. He has collaborated in many prestigious projects: with the famous Belgian architect Mario Garzanitti and with the hotel chain El BulliHotel. After four years as Co-Director in the architectural firm ToolStudio SL, in 2009 he decided to embark on the project of building children`s playhouses, with his family`s support. In 2009 SmartPlayhouse was founded.

Throughout these years he has incorporated the talent of various experts from other fields and brought his dream to life:

The objective of SmartPlayhouse is to be a reference in children`s playhouses. By using the most modern manufacturing technology, the best-quality materials on the market and respecting the environment at all times. All of this, as well as paying tribute to and promoting the architectural buildings that have marked the creative Avantgarde tendencies since the middle of the 20th Century, which all together offer a distinctive asset to both children and parents.

This could be your children`s dream, as well as your own. Do you want to make it come true?

Our playhouses are made from top-quality materials so that you can enjoy them for years to come. What’s more, they feature important safety innovations, so that we can honestly state that they are the safest you can buy.

Company - Quality of the materials

Materials

The main component of the playhouses is Birch marine board. Used in the Air-Sea industry, it is highly resistant to rough weather and is very sturdy.

The windows are made of methacrylate, an organic material that does not chip or break like glass and is very impact resistant.

The forages, hinges, screws and the outdoor clasp are all made of stainless steel to avoid being harmed by harsh weather. All the openings have rubber gaskets to assure for permanent sealing against any air or water.

The key lock is produced with aluminum alloy.

The paints used on the corners are water-based and comply with the European EN71/3 Toy Safety Standard.

The roof has thermal insulation and precast waterproof EPDM rubber material with a water drain pipe incorporated from warehouse, so that no welding or attaching materials is required.

Company-Ecology

Ecology

The SmartPlayhouse children`s houses are created and designed to avoid harming the environment as much as possible and follow strict criteria for sustainability. For this reason, every element, material and process necessary to create the houses has been carefully selected.

The main material of the playhouses is Birch wood, and as such helps avoid the emission of CO² in the environment. The windows on the SmartPlayhouse houses are made of methacrylate, an organic material and thus, recyclable. The paints used are water-based and non-contaminating.

Company - Packaging

Packaging

At SmartPlayhouse we consider every detail that affects our customer satisfaction. For this reason we verify that all materials arrive in perfect conditions and we assure that our playhouses travel to their destination the best way possible.

The SmartPlayhouse children`s houses are delivered pre-assembled. The methacrylate windows are attached and the windows and door already have their hinges screwed on and integrated onto the façade.

The SmartPlayhouse children`s houses are packaged in one large box that can be opened laterally so as to remove each piece that makes up the house. The dimensions of the wood boards are no larger than 2,00 m x 1,60 m and weigh between 15 kg and 50 kg so that they can be handled between two people.

The SmartPlayhouse houses allow the children to develop their autonomy while pretending that they`re adults.

The children`s playhouses are a very good way to encourage autonomous playing, which is so important during childhood. The culture of autonomous learning originated in the Anglo-Saxon and Nordic cultures, where children´s playhouses in the garden are very common.

With the SmartPlayhouse playhouses the children can enjoy their free playtime displaying their attitudes, desires and beliefs while stimulating their physical, affective, social and cognitive development. This non-directed playtime also encourages team-work, decision-making, conflict resolution, role-playing and finally the necessary aptitudes for a good future development in the society that surrounds them.

Company - Pedagogical Reasoning

From 2 to 7 years, symbolic playing
In this stage the child acquires the skill of representation and adopts a series of roles where shared norms, in an indirect way, bring them to exteriorize their fears, beliefs and thoughts. In other words, they start to discover what they are interested in, showing a motivation and implication in what they are doing.

Physical resources have a very important psychological role which contributes to the learning, development, growth and maturity of the child. With the SmartPlayhouse playhouses the children have the opportunity to imitate actions as if they were real.

From 7 years old, the need for their own space
Providing children with a SmartPlayhouse playhouse gives them the opportunity to feel responsible for their own space, encouraging autonomy, which they will develop progressively. This includes learning the norms which will bring them to, among other things, know how to share with others, keep the house tidy and enjoy their privacy, etc.

The SmartPlayhouse playhouses encourages playing, a hugely important activity in their learning, as it provides a familiarity with the language and a series of social relationships which will give the children more autonomy and a constructive life with others.
