Play Kitchens

If you were to ask your kids which the favourite toy in their playhouse was, what do think their answer would be? No contest: it’s the PLAY KITCHEN! Oh, the fun they have coming up with impossible (and indigestible) recipes!

Fact is, they’re popular not only with children. For parents, they represent a fun way of instilling responsibility in household tasks, but without running the risk that they’ll hurt themselves.

The only problem is that there are so many of them out there! Which to choose? Let us help you with a few favourites that would be perfect for a children’s’ playhouse.

PlanToys, distributed by Little fashion gallery, offers a wide range of toys to inspire children’s imagination and intellectual development.

Wood Designs have a wide range of products with fantastic, multifunctional designs. Like Smartplayhouse, they use plywood, as it is ideally suited for children.
One of those rare companies that has an entire philosophy and reasoning behind its products.

At Potterybarn kids, you can find the most comprehensive, well-finished model available (at €516 for the complete kit). Dark brown in colour, it would be the perfect match for a Casaforum.

Macarena Bilbao has one of the coolest business projects we’ve seen. She designs playhouses to her customers’ tastes at very reasonable prices. The bright colours she uses bring to our minds her birthplace, the Canary Islands.

The Dutch are always one step ahead of the pack. Kidsonroof offers impeccable, practical designs for all budgets. We can only find one fly in the ointment: they’re a little small.

When talking about play kitchens, mention must be made of Ikea, with all their classics miniaturised in plastic. They come in colours to fit any environment… but what about those legs? A little out of proportion, don’t you think?

Barrutoys offers a miniature option for the more mechanically inclined. A mini-workshop to play at making repairs.

Even in the world of play kitchens, there are prototypes and new ideas appearing.
Designer Job Buenazedacruz (courtesy of DesignSpotter) has come up with a futuristic design along the lines of modern fashion shops. However, we are told that it is currently at the prototype stage and not yet available for purchase.

Now all you have to worry about is being invited to dinner! ! They might just ask for advice, but forget about being allowed to touch the kitchen utensils!

In a children’s playhouse, the kids are in charge! Will you be able to finish up everything they serve you? Woe betide you if you can’t!
